We are expanding our Infrastructure sector engineering team to support UK projects in the nuclear fuels, decommissioning, water and transport sectors.
As a Project Engineering Manager, you will lead and coordinate multi-discipline design teams across all stages of the project lifecycle. You will work on complex, highly regulated projects, ensuring safe, cost-effective, and technically robust delivery. This is a client-facing role where you’ll be accountable for performance against project schedule, budget, safety, and quality requirements.
Lead and manage the delivery of multi-discipline engineering design across the full project lifecycle.
Identify and allocate engineering resources effectively to maximise productivity and efficiency.
Ensure engineers fully understand project scope, budgets, and programme requirements.
Coordinate design and engineering interfaces with partners, clients, and supply chain.
Oversee contractual communications, progress meetings, cost reports, and risk reviews.
Report project engineering performance to senior management.
Maintain focus on cost, scope control, and commercial targets.
Apply company engineering delivery processes, governance, and technical standards.
Identify and mitigate project and programme risks early.
Promote safe, ethical working practices and ensure compliance with all HSE requirements.
Support business development activities, including engineering strategies, proposals, and bids.
Mentor and develop junior engineers within the department.
Proven experience managing multi-discipline teams through all project stages on major contracts.
Strong understanding of UK technical/regulatory standards and global best practice.
Knowledge of project controls (schedule, cost, risk, and change management).
Strong focus on process safety, quality, and environmental leadership.
Excellent communication and client-facing skills with the ability to influence relationships.
Flexible to travel to client offices, project sites, and suppliers when required.
Ability to work from the Manchester office at least 3 days per week.
Experience with CE marking requirements for plant and equipment.
Knowledge of energy transition projects (Hydrogen, CCUS, emissions reduction).
Strong engineering/business systems and software knowledge.
Civils, structures, and infrastructure expertise.
Experience in nuclear, chemical, or other regulated process industries.
Essential:
Honours Degree (or equivalent) in an engineering-related subject.
Eligible for SC clearance.
Desirable:
Chartered Engineer and member of a recognised professional engineering institution.
APM (Association for Project Management) qualification/accreditation.
