Job Description:
YOUR ROLE:
The purpose of this role is to assist the Company Project Director in the coordination of Engineering, as required during the FEED and detail design phases of the Project.
This role is reporting to the Project Director.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
The role will require the Technical Safety Engineer to take a lead role in the performance of the following key activities, but not limited to;
COMPANY focal point within contractor’s office for Technical Safety discipline. Meet regularly with contractor lead HSE to track issues to closure and oversee progress. Provide regular reports to senior management.
Review and comment contractor deliverables within the EDMS ensuring overall document submission is technically compliant.
Improve process safety culture and knowledge level across the Company.
Undertaking analysis, calculations and/or engineering studies delegated as his/her responsibility on a project in accordance with Company Standards/Procedures and international codes/standards. Have demonstrable experience of producing deliverables in the field of Technical Safety, such as:
Loss Prevention Activities, (e.g. F&G Design, Active/Passive Fire Protection, Hazardous Area Classification),
Risk Analysis (e.g. QRA, FERA, EERA, ESSA, Flare/Vent Studies),
Development of HSE related Philosophies, and Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) Studies
Providing technical support and guidance to colleagues in interpretation of and solutions for safety design requirements.
Responsible for ensuring the design complies with all European, site specific and corporate regulations and guidelines on Process Safety.
Coordinating and expedite discipline or multidiscipline interfaces associated with assigned areas of responsibility.
Participating, when assigned, in development of Company standards and procedures.
Assisting, when required, in manhour estimates and planning activities associated with proposals and change orders.
Keeping abreast of the technical developments in area of technology and with associated National and International standards, and company and departmental procedures and methods.
Actively participating and/or leading in technical safety reviews such as HAZID, HAZOP and SIL.
YOUR PROFILE:
Minimum ten years project engineering with some relevant Client experience
Mining/chemical plant design experience
Familiarity with UK, European, American, and international standards applicable to the chemical industry
A combination of strong technical knowledge, analytical and innovative skills, commercial recognition, and proactive project management
Conversant with International standards and execution best practice
A strong supporter and champion of HSE standards and good practice
Good interpersonal, organization skills and ability to work independently are essential
Good communication skills both written and verbal and an aptitude for taking initiatives are essential, as is the ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams
Ability to manage relationships with key stakeholders
Thorough understanding of the risks and the technical/commercial issues associated with the development of mining and chemical plant projects
Proven track record of result deliveries in challenging project environments
Strong capabilities in problem solving in complex project and business environments
Experience in working within a multi-cultural environment
Perfect English language skill is required.
