Job Description:

Senior PGC Rotating Equipment Engineer

Location: Barrow-in-Furness
Contract: 2+ Year Contract
Working Pattern: Hybrid (4 Days Office / 1 Day Home)
Start Date: ASAP

Land & Sea Resources are currently recruiting for a Senior PGC Rotating Equipment Engineer on behalf of Spirit Energy to join their Engineering team.

The successful candidate will provide specialist rotating equipment engineering support for the Product Gas Compressors (PGCs), ensuring the integrity, reliability and performance of critical equipment while supporting maintenance, operations, projects and continuous improvement initiatives in compliance with company standards and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist rotating equipment engineering support to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the Morecambe Hub Product Gas Compressors (PGCs).
  • Support and optimise preventive and predictive maintenance strategies in collaboration with Maintenance and Operations teams.
  • Troubleshoot rotating equipment issues, perform root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and availability.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, company procedures and recognised industry standards, including ASME, API, ISO and other relevant engineering codes.
  • Support inspection, testing and condition monitoring programmes to maintain asset integrity and maximise equipment life.
  • Provide technical input into capital projects and plant modifications, including specifications, design reviews, equipment selection, commissioning and start-up activities.
  • Review and approve rotating equipment work scopes, job packs, method statements and technical documentation prior to execution.
  • Manage contractors and specialist vendors, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with technical and contractual requirements.
  • Support shutdowns, turnarounds, commissioning and start-up activities as required.
  • Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA and other engineering risk assessments, ensuring recommendations are implemented effectively.
  • Support Management of Change (MoC) processes by assessing the impact of engineering and operational changes.
  • Prepare, review and maintain rotating equipment engineering documentation, including drawings, datasheets, calculations and operating and maintenance procedures.
  • Promote continuous improvement in rotating equipment performance, reliability and maintenance practices.
  • Undertake any other associated duties as reasonably required.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline (MEng preferred).
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is desirable.
  • Proven experience supporting onshore and offshore oil & gas or energy operations.
  • Strong knowledge of rotating equipment used within oil & gas production facilities.
  • Demonstrable expertise in Product Gas Compressors (PGCs), reciprocating gas engines and compressor systems.
  • Experience in maintenance strategies, reliability engineering and asset integrity.
  • Strong understanding of offshore Safety Case requirements, Permit-to-Work systems and engineering risk management.
  • Knowledge of recognised engineering standards including API, ASME, ISO and DNV where applicable.
  • Experience supporting capital projects, plant modifications, commissioning and start-up activities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and fault-finding skills relating to critical rotating equipment.
  • Experience managing contractors and specialist service providers.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Working Arrangements

This role is based in Barrow-in-Furness.

Spirit Energy currently operates a hybrid working arrangement for office-based workers:

  • Four days per week in the office.
  • Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are mandatory office days.
  • The fourth office day can be either Monday or Friday, depending on team requirements.
  • Contractors may work in the office five days per week if preferred.

Please note:

  • No travel or accommodation allowance is available.
  • PAYE contractors only (no umbrella companies).
