Production Technologist

Location: Barrow-in-Furness
Contract: 2+ Year Contract
Working Pattern: Hybrid (4 Days Office / 1 Day Home)

Land & Sea Resources are currently recruiting for a Production Technologist on behalf of Spirit Energy to join their Production & Subsurface team.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in maximising production performance across a major UK energy asset. The successful candidate will provide Production Technology expertise to optimise well performance, production forecasting and reservoir management, ensuring safe, efficient and economic production throughout the asset lifecycle. Working closely with Operations, Engineering and Subsurface teams, you will support production optimisation initiatives, identify improvement opportunities and contribute to the long-term performance of the asset.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement well and reservoir management activities to optimise daily production performance across the asset.
• Develop, maintain and continuously improve structured well surveillance programmes to ensure wells operate within their safe operating envelope.
• Lead the preparation of short-term production forecasts and contribute to long-term production forecasting activities.
• Develop, maintain and validate well and production system network models to support production optimisation and operational decision making.
• Identify and evaluate new technologies and production enhancement opportunities to maximise recovery from existing wells.
• Chair daily and weekly production optimisation meetings, ensuring wells and facilities are operating at optimum performance.
• Develop and manage choke models while identifying production constraints, bottlenecks and opportunities for performance improvement.
• Monitor, record and analyse production losses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented to minimise future recurrence.
• Support annual budget planning by identifying and justifying well intervention requirements.
• Collaborate with Operations, Engineering and Subsurface teams to maximise production while maintaining safe and reliable operations.
• Provide technical guidance and production technology expertise across the wider asset team.
• Act as a Lead Investigator using Kelvin TopSet investigation techniques to support business requirements.
• Undertake any other associated duties as reasonably required.

Requirements

• Degree qualified in Petroleum Engineering, Production Engineering, Subsurface Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven Production Technology or Production Engineering experience within the oil & gas or wider energy sector.
• Strong understanding of well performance, production optimisation and production forecasting.
• Experience developing and maintaining well surveillance programmes and production system models.
• Understanding of gas production and gas processing operations.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret production data and identify optimisation opportunities.
• Experience working collaboratively with Operations, Engineering and Subsurface teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with production modelling and well performance software is advantageous.
• Experience leading production optimisation activities within an operational environment is desirable.

Working Arrangements

This role is based in Barrow-in-Furness.

Spirit Energy currently operates a hybrid working arrangement for office-based workers:

• Four days per week in the office.
• Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are mandatory office days.
• The fourth office day can be either Monday or Friday, depending on team requirements.
• Contractors may work in the office five days per week if preferred.

Please note:

• No travel or accommodation allowance is available.
• PAYE contractors only (no umbrella companies).
