Location: Burghfield, Berkshire
Start Date:  July 2025
Duration: 12 months
Hours per Week: 47.5
Security Clearance: SC or DV (must be current or obtainable)

Company Information

Our client is delivering one of the most complex and high-profile nuclear defence projects in the UK, and we are seeking a skilled Maintenance Manager to join the team. This site-based role is a great opportunity to bring your expertise in electronic security systems to a long-term, critical infrastructure programme.

Key responsibilities

The responsibility of the Preservation and Maintenance Manager is to manage the preservation and maintenance process. This involves -

  • Management of Contractors in terms of their delivery of preservation and maintenance.
  • Managing all preservation and operational maintenance activities throughout the lifetime of the asset until the handover gate of the Project
  • Ensure that suppliers and project team understand the Project Preservation Process and are aware of expectations.
  • Organise maintenance work order audits on behalf of the Client including the compliance of Contractor’s preservation practices.
  • Identification of new assets arriving on site and the development of new maintenance activities
  • Liaison with the Client to establish asset management requirements,
  • Traceability and process information delivery
  • Manage the preservation maintenance records through the AMS database.
  • Carry out preservation and maintenance activities in accordance with OP-852 management procedures, approved AWE documentation and the relevant License conditions.
  •  Ensure the agreed records and documentation are produced and maintained to demonstrate compliance to relevant quality, performance, standards and legislation.
  • Provide Preservation status reporting to the Construction and Commissioning Managers
  • Track & forecast the progress and quality of documentation being delivered by disciplines and project team that perform Preservations on Site.
  • Provide monthly reporting on performance and trends
  • act as a subject matter expert within the Business to support company strategic goals.

Requirements for this position

  • Substantial experience of preservation and maintenance of large facilities in a project environment.
  • In depth knowledge and experience of deploying maintenance strategies and processes.
  • Proven track record in complex project delivery, in defence (preferred) or similar technical sectors.
  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent work experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Security: Current holder of Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV) Clearance, or willing to obtain.

  • 47.5 hours per week

  • Monday to Friday

  • On-site presence required (Burghfield)

Rate and Hours

  • Competitive rates offered – PAYE

  • Rate dependent on experience – Inside or Outside IR35
