Industry News: BP’s New Donut Training Requirement

Industry Update

Exciting news for the North Sea energy sector: BP has announced that Donut Training will officially become a pre-mobilisation requirement for all personnel working on their North Sea assets, effective 30th March 2025. ️

What does this mean?

  • In-person training will replace the current offshore demonstration video. This ensures a more hands-on, effective training experience, keeping the workforce at the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency.
  • For the ad hoc workforce, however, additional expenditure will be required to cover the cost of this in-person training.
  • While dispensation will be available for specific cases, details are still being finalised and will be shared as soon as more information is available.

What’s next?

This move by BP highlights a broader trend towards more robust and interactive training programs in the offshore industry. It’s an exciting step forward, but it also means adapting for businesses and workers to stay compliant with the new requirements.
