Human Resources Advisor

Location: Barrow-in-Furness
Contract: 2+ Year Contract
Working Pattern: Hybrid (4 Days Office / 1 Day Home)
Start Date: ASAP

Land & Sea Resources are currently recruiting for a Human Resources Advisor on behalf of Spirit Energy to join their Human Resources team.

The successful candidate will provide professional HR advice and support across the business, ensuring the consistent delivery of HR policies, processes and employee services. Working closely with managers, employees and external service providers, you will help deliver an efficient, compliant and people-focused HR function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for employees via the HR inbox, providing advice and guidance on HR policies, procedures and employment-related queries.
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the HR inbox, ensuring queries are resolved promptly and accurately while maintaining associated documentation and HR Pipeline pages.
  • Support recruitment and headcount processes, including managing requisitions within Workday, liaising with the Managed Service Provider (MSP) and tracking approval workflows.
  • Coordinate the employee leaver process, ensuring employees receive the appropriate information and support throughout their departure.
  • Support the Head of HR in managing and resolving straightforward employee relations matters.
  • Work closely with the external Occupational Health provider to support sickness absence management, ensuring employees receive appropriate guidance and support throughout the process.
  • Coordinate occupational health referrals and substance misuse testing, liaising with employees, contractors and external providers while ensuring company policies and procedures are followed.
  • Work alongside the external payroll provider, Finance and internal stakeholders to ensure monthly payroll changes are processed accurately and on time.
  • Respond to payroll queries and resolve issues in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide support for Workday administration, including user queries, system releases, management reporting and maintaining accurate employee data.
  • Coordinate the company's long service awards programme and associated administrative activities.
  • Maintain accurate HR records while ensuring compliance with employment legislation, company policies and data protection requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across HR processes, systems and employee services.
  • Undertake any other associated duties as reasonably required.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working within a Human Resources Advisory or HR Generalist role.
  • Good knowledge of UK employment legislation, HR policies and HR best practice.
  • Experience providing first-line HR advice and supporting employee relations activities.
  • Experience using Workday or a similar HR Information System is preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative and customer-focused approach.
  • Experience working with payroll processes and external service providers is desirable.
  • Understanding of occupational health processes, absence management and employee wellbeing is advantageous.
  • CIPD qualification or working towards CIPD accreditation is preferred.
  • Previous experience within the energy, engineering or industrial sectors is desirable.

Working Arrangements

This role is based in Barrow-in-Furness.

Spirit Energy currently operates a hybrid working arrangement for office-based workers:

  • Four days per week in the office.
  • Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are mandatory office days.
  • The fourth office day can be either Monday or Friday, depending on team requirements.
  • Contractors may work in the office five days per week if preferred.

Please note:

  • No travel or accommodation allowance is available.
  • PAYE contractors only (no umbrella companies).
