Electrical Technician – Barrow-in-Furness Gas Terminal

Location: Barrow-in-Furness Gas Terminal
Contract: 2-Year Contract
Start Date: 1st October 2026
Working Pattern: 9-Day Fortnight
Working Hours: 7:30am start, 9 hours per day
Rate: £300–£350 per day PAYE

Land & Sea Resources are recruiting on behalf of Spirit Energy for an experienced Electrical Technician to join their maintenance team at the Barrow Gas Terminal.

About the Role

The successful candidate will support the maintenance and safe operation of electrical plant and equipment at the Barrow Terminal. You will be responsible for carrying out routine and non-routine maintenance, investigating technical issues and ensuring equipment remains safe, reliable and available.

The role operates on a 9-day fortnight, working Monday to Friday one week and Monday to Thursday the following week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine and non-routine electrical maintenance and defect repairs.
  • Investigate technical issues relating to critical plant and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Support commissioning and decommissioning activities.
  • Contribute to plant modifications and improvements.
  • Prepare technical reports and maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Supervise staff and vendor/contractor employees where required, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure safe working practices and appropriate permit requirements are followed.
  • Carry out Power Technician duties and, when suitably qualified, act as SAEP/REP.
  • Support HSE and process safety requirements across the site.

Requirements

The hiring manager is looking for candidates with:

  • Demonstrable experience in petrochemical process, operations or maintenance.
  • Experience of production/maintenance operations within the oil and gas industry.
  • CompEx certification – ideally held.
  • Ideally qualified as HV, SAEP or REP.
  • Experience supervising contractors and other personnel.
  • Strong understanding of electrical maintenance and engineering principles.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • A strong commitment to health, safety and environmental standards.

Pay

£300–£350 per day (PAYE only)
