Job Description:

Document Control Manager (Project Management)

Location: Manchester
Sector: Defence & Nuclear Projects
Hours: 40 per week
Salary: 62k


Overview

We are seeking an experienced Document Control Manager to lead document control and information management across major projects. This is a senior-level role focused on ensuring compliance, optimising systems, and maintaining high-quality documentation aligned with industry standards, including ISO 19650.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full document lifecycle, from creation through to archiving
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the document control team
  • Oversee EDMS platforms, ensuring data integrity and access control
  • Coordinate with project managers and stakeholders to manage document flow and approvals
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards
  • Drive continuous improvement, automation, and best practices in document management

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in document control within engineering, construction, or infrastructure sectors
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities
  • Experience with EDMS systems such as SharePoint, ProjectWise, or Documentum
  • Solid understanding of ISO 19650 and related standards
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant discipline (Engineering, Construction, Business, or similar)
  • Professional certifications such as PRINCE2, PMP, or ISO 9001
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management tools
