Land & Sea Resources are currently recruiting for a Buyer on behalf of Spirit Energy to join their Supply Chain & Procurement team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading UK energy operator, supporting the procurement of goods and services required for safe and efficient operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality purchasing activities, managing supplier relationships, supporting continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring procurement processes are compliant, efficient and aligned with business requirements. The role will also support material coordination across the asset, working closely with logistics and materials teams to ensure timely delivery of critical equipment and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute purchasing activities in accordance with company procurement policies, procedures and governance requirements.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, providing a high level of customer service and procurement support.
  • Partner with business functions to understand operational requirements, validate procurement needs and recommend cost-effective purchasing solutions.
  • Ensure the timely availability of goods, materials and services to support operational and project activities.
  • Raise, manage and track Purchase Orders through to successful delivery using SAP.
  • Monitor supplier performance, ensuring deliveries are made on time and quality standards are achieved.
  • Act as the first point of escalation for supplier issues, working collaboratively to resolve delivery, quality and commercial challenges.
  • Support continuous improvement of procurement processes, identifying opportunities to increase efficiency and compliance.
  • Promote the use of procurement catalogues and support greater catalogue adoption across the business.
  • Support supplier negotiations, contract implementation and ongoing supplier performance management.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through supplier engagement, tendering activities and contract renewals.
  • Work closely with logistics and materials teams to support material coordination and ensure the availability of critical equipment.
  • Provide guidance and support to stakeholders on procurement tools and purchasing processes.
  • Undertake any other associated duties as reasonably required.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Buyer within the oil & gas, energy, engineering or other industrial sectors.
  • Extensive experience using SAP within a procurement or buying environment.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, purchasing governance and supplier management.
  • Experience supporting contract activities including sourcing, supplier selection and contract administration.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and customer service skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify value improvement opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering a high-quality procurement service.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Degree qualified is preferred, although relevant procurement experience will also be considered.

Working Arrangements

This role is based in Barrow-in-Furness.

Spirit Energy currently operates a hybrid working arrangement for office-based workers:

  • Four days per week in the office.
  • Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are mandatory office days.
  • The fourth office day can be either Monday or Friday, depending on team requirements.
  • Contractors may work in the office five days per week if preferred.

Please note:

  • No travel or accommodation allowance is available.
  • PAYE contractors only (no umbrella companies).
