BMS & Document Control Lead

Location: Barrow-in-Furness
Contract: 2+ Year Contract
Working Pattern: Hybrid (4 Days Office / 1 Day Home)
Start Date: ASAP

Land & Sea Resources are currently recruiting for a BMS & Document Control Lead on behalf of Spirit Energy to join their Business Services team.

The successful candidate will provide governance, assurance and leadership to ensure business-critical information, engineering documentation and asset records are effectively managed, supporting regulatory compliance, asset integrity and process safety across the operating assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Business Management System (BMS), Information Management (IM) and Document Control functions across the Morecambe Hub.
  • Act as the Information Management and BMS Authority, ensuring compliance with company procedures, statutory legislation and industry best practice.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the BMS performance management process and supporting systems.
  • Control and assure engineering documents, drawings, registers and business-critical records, ensuring quality, accuracy and compliance before issue and storage.
  • Act as the focal point for Spirit Energy's obligations with the North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) and support regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Manage outsourced document control and information management support where appropriate.
  • Provide training, coaching and guidance to users to promote compliance with document control procedures, information management standards and business processes.
  • Coordinate the distribution of internal and external documentation, maintaining effective communication with stakeholders, contractors and third-party organisations.
  • Support the business in managing structured and unstructured information to meet operational, engineering and regulatory requirements.
  • Produce document control reports, drawing registers, document tracking reports and management information as required.
  • Carry out routine assurance activities, including the management of controlled hard-copy drawings and document libraries.
  • Manage the document numbering system for Asset and Functional Teams, ensuring consistency and governance across the business.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across Information Management, Document Control and Business Management Systems.
  • Undertake any other associated duties as reasonably required.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Information Management qualification is desirable.
  • Demonstrable experience in Information Management, Document Control or Business Management Systems within the energy, engineering or process industries.
  • Strong understanding of document management, data management and information governance best practices.
  • Experience using Electronic Document and Records Management Systems (EDRMS).
  • Competent user of Microsoft 365 applications, including SharePoint, Teams and associated collaboration tools.
  • Experience managing engineering documentation, drawings and technical records for operational assets and capital projects.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop and maintain Information Management and BMS performance reporting.
  • Experience developing and implementing document control standards, procedures and governance processes.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and training skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.

Working Arrangements

This role is based in Barrow-in-Furness.

Spirit Energy currently operates a hybrid working arrangement for office-based workers:

  • Four days per week in the office.
  • Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are mandatory office days.
  • The fourth office day can be either Monday or Friday, depending on team requirements.
  • Contractors may work in the office five days per week if preferred.

Please note:

  • No travel or accommodation allowance is available.
  • PAYE contractors only (no umbrella companies).
