Mechanical Technician

Location: Barrow-in-Furness
Contract: 2+ Year Contract
Working Pattern: Full-Time, Onshore, Week on/ Week off
Start Date: ASAP

Land & Sea Resources are currently recruiting for an Onshore Mechanical Technician on behalf of Spirit Energy to join their Operations team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a major UK energy operator, supporting the safe, reliable and efficient operation of gas processing facilities. The successful candidate will undertake planned and reactive mechanical maintenance activities, fault diagnosis and equipment repairs, ensuring plant reliability, asset integrity and compliance with company procedures and industry standards. Working closely with Operations, Engineering and Contractors, you will play a key role in maintaining the availability of critical process equipment while promoting a strong safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine and non-routine mechanical maintenance activities on operational plant and equipment in accordance with company procedures and maintenance plans.
  • Investigate complex mechanical faults, identify root causes and implement effective solutions to safely return plant to service.
  • Prepare technical reports and maintain accurate maintenance records using company maintenance management systems.
  • Carry out commissioning and decommissioning activities to support planned maintenance and operational requirements.
  • Support the design, installation and commissioning of plant modifications and improvement projects.
  • Supervise contractors and vendors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with company standards.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with permit-to-work procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Promote an Incident Free Workplace culture by complying with HSE policies, process safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in emergency response duties and maintain competency for emergency response roles.
  • Collaborate effectively with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering teams to support safe and reliable production.
  • Continuously develop technical knowledge and contribute to maintenance improvement initiatives.
  • Undertake any other associated duties as reasonably required.

Requirements

  • BTEC Ordinary Certificate or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Several years' experience in mechanical maintenance within the oil & gas, petrochemical or energy industries.
  • Demonstrable experience maintaining mechanical equipment associated with process plant operations.
  • Sound understanding of engineering principles and mechanical maintenance practices.
  • Knowledge of permit-to-work systems, safe isolation procedures and maintenance best practice.
  • Experience diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs on critical plant and equipment.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to supervise contractors and ensure compliance with company safety and quality standards.
  • Emergency response training or willingness to undertake emergency response duties is desirable.
  • Crane driving, firefighting, first aid, breathing apparatus or similar operational competencies are advantageous.
