Maintenance Spares & Repairs Lead

Location: Barrow-in-Furness
Contract: 2+ Year Contract
Working Pattern: Hybrid (4 Days Office / 1 Day Home)
Start Date: ASAP

Land & Sea Resources are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Spares & Repairs Lead on behalf of Spirit Energy to join their Maintenance team.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting safe, reliable and compliant operations by ensuring the effective management of maintenance spares, repairable equipment and inventory strategies. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing spares and repair strategies, managing critical inventory, supporting asset integrity and reliability initiatives, and working closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain and Operations teams to optimise equipment availability while balancing operational risk and cost.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain maintenance spares and repair strategies aligned with asset integrity, maintenance and reliability objectives.
  • Define and manage spares philosophies for Safety Critical Elements (SCEs), production-critical equipment, obsolescence management and asset life extension.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, Safety Case, SEMS, COMAH requirements and relevant industry regulations.
  • Identify, assess and manage critical and insurance spares based on equipment criticality and failure risk.
  • Develop stocking strategies for both onshore and offshore operations, considering logistics, operational risk and equipment availability.
  • Support business decisions relating to repair versus replacement, redundancy strategies and long lead-time equipment.
  • Maintain critical spares registers and provide assurance evidence to support audits and regulatory compliance.
  • Act as the technical focal point for OEMs, repair vendors and specialist service providers.
  • Ensure repair activities meet OEM specifications, engineering standards, quality requirements and regulatory obligations.
  • Support supplier performance management and provide technical input into maintenance and repair contracts.
  • Identify obsolescence risks and develop mitigation strategies, including alternative sourcing, redesign and life extension solutions.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain teams to optimise inventory levels while reducing excess, obsolete and slow-moving stock.
  • Support budgeting, cost control and forecasting activities relating to maintenance spares and repairs.
  • Maintain accurate spares data within the CMMS and support continuous improvement of asset data quality.
  • Support internal audits, asset integrity reviews and regulatory inspections.
  • Provide technical guidance to planners, engineers and offshore teams on maintenance spares and repair strategies.
  • Act as a Lead Investigator using Kelvin TopSet investigation techniques to support incident investigations.
  • Undertake any other associated duties as reasonably required.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Technology, Materials Management, Asset Management or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience managing maintenance spares and repair programmes within the oil & gas, energy or other hazardous industries.
  • Strong understanding of equipment criticality, risk-based spares management, maintenance strategies and reliability engineering principles.
  • Experience working with CMMS systems and maintenance management processes.
  • Knowledge of repair management, quality assurance and vendor management.
  • Experience managing equipment obsolescence and ageing assets is desirable.
  • Familiarity with ISO 55000 Asset Management principles.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Experience with Kelvin TopSet investigations is desirable.

Working Arrangements

This role is based in Barrow-in-Furness.

Spirit Energy currently operates a hybrid working arrangement for office-based workers:

  • Four days per week in the office.
  • Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are mandatory office days.
  • The fourth office day can be either Monday or Friday, depending on team requirements.
  • Contractors may work in the office five days per week if preferred.

Please note:

  • No travel or accommodation allowance is available.
  • PAYE contractors only (no umbrella companies).
