Maintenance Systems Lead

Location: Barrow-in-Furness
Contract: 2+ Year Contract
Working Pattern: Hybrid (4 Days Office / 1 Day Home)
Start Date: ASAP

Land & Sea Resources are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Systems Lead on behalf of Spirit Energy to join their Maintenance & Systems team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for optimising maintenance systems, improving data quality and supporting digitalisation initiatives to ensure safe, compliant and efficient asset management across the operating assets. The role will also act as the business lead for ICP and Management of Change (MoC) activities relating to maintenance systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the system owner for the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring it supports maintenance planning, execution, backlog management, defect control and reporting.
  • Own system configuration, governance and change control processes to ensure maintenance systems remain effective, secure and compliant.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, UK regulatory requirements and audit expectations.
  • Maintain accurate asset hierarchy, equipment master data, asset tagging and maintenance records.
  • Develop and maintain data standards for work orders, task lists, failure codes and maintenance history.
  • Drive continuous improvements in maintenance data quality to support performance reporting, regulatory compliance and informed decision-making.
  • Support alignment between maintenance systems, Safety Critical Elements (SCEs) and asset integrity registers.
  • Develop and maintain maintenance KPIs and dashboards covering backlog, compliance, preventive maintenance effectiveness, deferrals and maintenance performance.
  • Provide system-based analysis and reporting to support Maintenance, Reliability and Asset Integrity teams.
  • Support audits, inspections and regulatory reviews relating to maintenance systems, records and asset management.
  • Ensure maintenance system processes support Safety Case, SEMS and COMAH requirements where applicable.
  • Identify system-related risks that could impact safety, asset integrity or regulatory compliance and implement mitigation measures.
  • Lead and support initiatives to improve work management processes, preventive maintenance effectiveness, backlog reduction and deferral management.
  • Support maintenance system upgrades, migrations and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Develop maintenance system procedures, work instructions and user guidance while delivering training to improve system adoption and data quality.
  • Act as Lead Investigator using Kelvin TopSet investigation techniques to support business requirements.
  • Undertake any other associated duties as reasonably required.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in an Engineering or Technology discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng).
  • Proven experience managing maintenance systems within hazardous industries.
  • Hands-on experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance work management processes and maintenance planning.
  • Knowledge of ISO 55000 Asset Management principles.
  • Experience working with Integrated Change Process (ICP) and Management of Change (MoC).
  • Strong understanding of asset integrity, maintenance data management and engineering governance.
  • Experience supporting audits, regulatory inspections and compliance activities.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret maintenance and asset performance data.
  • Experience in event management and incident investigation, including Kelvin TopSet methodology.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and continuous improvement skills.

Working Arrangements

This role is based in Barrow-in-Furness.

Spirit Energy currently operates a hybrid working arrangement for office-based workers:

  • Four days per week in the office.
  • Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are mandatory office days.
  • The fourth office day can be either Monday or Friday, depending on team requirements.
  • Contractors may work in the office five days per week if preferred.

Please note:

  • No travel or accommodation allowance is available.
  • PAYE contractors only (no umbrella companies).
