Operations Support Technician

Location: Barrow-in-Furness
Contract: 2+ Year Contract

Land & Sea Resources are currently recruiting for an Operations Support Technician on behalf of Spirit Energy to join their Operations team.

This is an excellent opportunity to support the safe and efficient operation of a major UK energy facility during the final operational phase of the Morecambe Hub. The successful candidate will provide front-line operational support, ensuring production and maintenance activities are carried out safely, compliantly, and efficiently through field-based assurance, isolation management, and operational support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out gas testing, isolation verification, and integrity checks to support safe work execution.
  • Apply and verify Isolation Control Certificates (ICC) using a two-person verification process.
  • Support the development of robust isolation plans to enable safe maintenance activities.
  • Conduct Operating Integrity (OI) activities, including Joint Integrity Management (JIM) inspections and Level/Containment (LO/LC) surveys.
  • Identify and report leaks, weeps, and other integrity issues, supporting timely resolution.
  • Assist with production operations and provide support for non-routine operational activities.
  • Support Permit to Work (PtW) readiness through field verification, HIC development, risk assessments, and daily gas testing.
  • Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Control of Work teams to ensure safe and efficient execution of work.
  • Promote high standards of health, safety, and operational compliance while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Experience within the oil & gas, petrochemical, or process industries.
  • Strong understanding of Safe Systems of Work (SSoW), Operating Integrity (OI), and Permit to Work processes.
  • Experience carrying out gas testing, isolation management, or field-based operational support.
  • Good knowledge of terminal process plant operations and maintenance practices.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • BTEC Ordinary Certificate (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
  • Engineering Apprenticeship with ONC (or equivalent) is highly desirable.
  • IOSH or other relevant HSE qualifications are advantageous.
