Instrument Technician

Location: Barrow-in-Furness
Contract: 2+ Year Contract
Working Pattern: Site Based

Land & Sea Resources are currently recruiting for an Instrument Technician on behalf of Spirit Energy to join their Operations team.

This is an excellent opportunity to support the maintenance and reliability of critical plant equipment during the final operational phase of the Morecambe Hub. The successful candidate will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding, repairs, and commissioning activities on instrumentation and control systems, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on instrumentation and control systems.
  • Diagnose and repair faults on critical plant equipment.
  • Maintain and support systems including Fiscal Metering, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Emergency Shutdown (ESD), and Fire & Gas systems.
  • Assist with commissioning, decommissioning, and plant modification activities.
  • Complete maintenance records and technical reports.
  • Work closely with engineers, contractors, and maintenance teams to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company health, safety, environmental, and permit-to-work procedures.

Requirements

  • Qualified Instrument Technician.
  • HNC (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience within the oil & gas, petrochemical, or process industries.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial instrumentation, metering, and Fire & Gas systems.
  • Excellent fault-finding, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Previous onshore or offshore maintenance experience is advantageous.
  • Relevant industry certifications, including CompEx (EX01–EX04), are highly desirable.
