AUT and Welding Inspection Lead – NEP Project

Overview

We are recruiting an experienced AUT and Welding Inspection Lead on behalf of our client for the NEP Project at Evanton Spoolbase, Inverness. This is a senior quality role requiring strong leadership, in-depth technical knowledge, and a proactive approach to safety and quality assurance.

You will lead inspection activities during SDSS linepipe fabrication, ensuring all welding and AUT operations are delivered in full compliance with project and client requirements.


Contract Details

Project: NEP
Location: Evanton Spoolbase, Inverness
Contract Duration: April 2026 – July 2026
Day Rate: £300 per day (LTD)
Reporting To: Quality Lead


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the inspection team during SDSS linepipe fabrication at the spoolbase

  • Provide QA/QC surveillance of welding, field joint coating, and AUT activities in line with ITPs, WPS, WPQs, and NDE documentation

  • Verify contractor compliance with all project specifications, standards, and procedures

  • Attend daily coordination and project progress meetings

  • Prepare and issue daily and weekly inspection reports

  • Review and validate QC documentation, inspection records, NCRs, and punch lists

  • Escalate quality-related issues and support continuous improvement and lessons-learned initiatives

  • Support audits, final data books, and project close-out documentation


Required Qualifications

  • CSWIP 3.2 or equivalent

  • CSWIP AUT Data Interpretation

  • PCN Level 2 in Radiography, Ultrasonic Testing, or DPI


Essential Experience

  • Proven experience in a Lead or QC Lead Inspector role within the oil and gas industry

  • Extensive AUT weld interpretation experience on subsea pipeline fabrication projects

  • Strong welding inspection background, including SDSS linepipe

  • Full working knowledge of DNV-ST-F101 (2021), bp ETP, and relevant international standards

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in pipeline welding inspection and AUT interpretation


Desirable Experience

  • Previous BP project experience

  • ICorr Level 1 or Level 2 Coatings Inspector certification
