Job Description:

Welding & Coating Inspector – NEP Project

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Welding & Coating Inspector to support quality assurance activities on the NEP Project at Evanton Spoolbase, Inverness. This role plays a critical part in ensuring welding and coating operations meet all project, client, and industry standards.

You will work closely with project teams and contractors to maintain high levels of quality, safety, and compliance throughout fabrication activities.


Contract Details

Contract Duration: April 2026 – July 2026
Day Rate: £300 per day (LTD)
Location: Evanton Spoolbase, Inverness
Reporting To: BP Quality Lead


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily surveillance of welding activities, including fit-up, WPS compliance, heat control, and consumables verification

  • Verify qualifications of welders, welding operators, and NDT personnel

  • Inspect weld preparation, welding passes, and completed welds, including final visual inspections

  • Oversee coating applications, including IMPP, flame spray polypropylene, and HSS field joints

  • Confirm contractor compliance with approved procedures, repair methods, and QA/QC documentation

  • Participate in audits, quality review meetings, and lessons-learned sessions


Qualifications & Experience

  • CSWIP 3.1 or AWS CWI (or equivalent)

  • NACE Level 2 or ICorr Level 2 (or equivalent)

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in welding and coating inspection

  • Experience in subsea pipelines or oil and gas fabrication is preferred

  • Strong knowledge of NDT methods, welding documentation, and coating specifications


Desirable Experience

  • Previous BP project experience

  • PCN NDT or equivalent certification

  • AUT / PAUT inspection experience


Key Competencies

  • Strong team player with leadership capability

  • Excellent communication, reporting, and documentation skills

  • Proficient in MS Office, Microsoft Teams, PDF editing tools, and inspection management systems such as ICAPS, CMS, or BP PIMS

  • Strong commitment to safety and HSSE compliance
