Job Description:

Senior Package Planners – Defence Sector (Reading, UK)

Location: Reading, United Kingdom
Employment Type: Full-time, Site-Based
Security Clearance: Active SC (or higher) Required

About the Role

We are seeking two experienced Senior Planners to join a major defence construction project in Reading.
This is a site-based position, and only candidates with active SC (Security Clearance) or higher who can attend site five days a week will be considered.

Working closely with the Head of Planning, you will support construction and work package leads to develop and maintain a detailed delivery programme.
This is a construction delivery role, not a PMO position.

As the M&E Senior Planner, you will manage all planning and scheduling activities using Primavera P6, ensuring accurate programme data and alignment across the wider project team.
You will act as a key planning adviser, maintaining data quality and supporting collaborative, data-driven reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) elements of the project schedule.

  • Interface with supply chain partners and lead regular schedule reviews.

  • Facilitate planning sessions with stakeholders to minimise programme impact.

  • Apply technical and construction knowledge to maintain accurate delivery timelines.

Key Requirements

  • Proficient in Primavera P6 (Enterprise, multi-user environment).

  • Active SC clearance (or higher) – essential.

  • Previous on-site experience delivering complex projects to programme.

  • Strong understanding of NEC contracts and Programme for Acceptance processes.

  • Skilled in earned value analysis, WBS development, and critical path analysis.

  • Experience developing schedules from limited information.

  • Ability to integrate M&E infrastructure with complex plant work packages.

  • Collaborative approach with project managers and supply chain partners.

  • Ability to interpret project drawings, documentation, and test “what-if” scenarios.
